Eleven hours—or to be more precise 660 minutes—that is all it takes to learn the techniques and tools to transform a person’s life. Eleven hours, 660 minutes is all it takes to give the “Gift of Reading”. Oakland Literacy Council is offering tutor training workshops on March 2 from 10 a.m.–4 p.m., March 4 from 6–8:30 p.m. and March 6 from 6–8:30 p.m. at the Rochester Hills Public Library. Attendance at all three sessions is required to complete your training. Registration is necessary.
Upon completion of the training program, you will be assigned a student who has been waiting to write a letter to a family member, get a GED, learn a job skill, read Goodnight Moon to a child, get a driver’s license and so much more. These dreams, so long ignored, can become a reality. Please help us reverse the bleak statistic of illiteracy in our community. Sign up now and help someone “open their world through words”. To volunteer, please contact Oakland Literacy Council at 248-253-1617 or visit www.oaklandliteracy.net.
